Car Hire
There are numerous car hire companies situated in and around Kyrenia.
You will need to take your licence with you when you book your car. For about £16 a day you can hire a small car (they are right-hand-drive) and of course they drive on the left, so you do not have to worry about adjusting your driving style.
You need to be over 25 in order to hire and you must bring both parts of your driving licence (paper and card).
The road signs are in English.
Typical rental prices are;
Small car £18/day low season to £25/day high
Suzuki Vitara £22/day low & £36 high
People carrier £28 low & £45 high
They usually have nanual & automatic cars available. All cars feature air conditioning (AC).
You can collect the vehicls from Ercan airport – Kyrenia – Nicosia - Famagusta or hotel.
Petrol prices are approximately 1.95 Turkish lire/litre and the minimum rental period is 3 days.
As per the UK there are laws that you need to abide by and some of these are;
a) Seat belts must be worn
b) There are speed cameras - fixed and police, hand-held detectors
c) Children are not allowed to sit in the front
d) It is illegal to use a mobile phone whilst driving
